Hi all,

I'll be attending the database meeting organising by the NCI on Aug
25-26, and arriving on the afternoon of the 24th. Anyone interested in
meeting up for dinner?

(Unfortunately, unable to make the ACS)

My flight gets in at 6pm on the 24th, so I will getting to Frederick
too late for dinner. I'd be up for a beer later though.

I live in Frederick, so not only will I be around, I can host a get together if that works out. Big deck, nice view of the Catoctin Mountains, very pleasant as long as it isn't 100 F and 98% humidity.

Very tempting but given that this is the first evening after the plane
flight, I'm thinking that I'll probably crash at about 9pm (if not
before) and so it might be good not to stray too far from the hotel.
In any case, how about everyone that's interested in dinner meet in
the lobby of the hotel at 6pm, and we can take it from there, whether
it's to Dan's place or a local restaurant.

I'm arriving late on a train from Boston, so I'll probably head to the hotel bar around 11.30….

see you all then.

That's a good plan. I assume the hotel is the Holiday Inn at FSK mall? If people send me strong likes and dislikes I can sort out some options ahead of time.

PS, 9pm is my normal bedtime so you're not likely to to be stuck at my house much past that anyway!

I'm hoping to join you, unless I get a late start - I have an 8-9 hour
drive from northern NY. I'm staying at the Days Inn nearby, but I'll see
you at the Holiday Inn at 6pm if I make it OK.

I am very sorry I can't be with you, but wish everyone well. It corresponds
very well with the definitive paper that Noel has pulled together (
http://www.dspace.cam.ac.uk/handle/1810/238393 original submission) "the
Blue Obelisk Five years on: ODOSOS". I think we can feel very proud of this
and the dinner should celebrate this.

We have had relatively little active support from mainstream chemistry but
the BO has continued to flourish and many of its components are widely used
(although not always as acknowledged as much as they should be). We would
still benefit from banding our software, and perhaps we should all users of
our software to reference this BO paper.as well as the reference for the
actual software used. If the BO had not existed we should not have been as
far ahead as we are.

Have a good dinner

Sounds fun. Unfortunately, I'll miss BOTH of these this time around; I'll be
at the CRYSTAL workshop learning all about solid state chemistry:
